About Us

Carrie CannadayHello there, I’m Starscape founder Carrie Cannaday.

Thanks for visiting our wedding videography site! As a wedding videographer (or a wedeographer, as I like to say), I tend to enjoy wedding videos! And I really appreciate those, like you, who value wedding videography, too.

I produced my first wedding video when I was 17. I can still remember the excitement I felt the day of my first wedding shoot. I was a student in a video production class at my high school, and I got permission from my video production teacher to borrow 2 of my high school’s cameras for the shoot. I borrowed another camera from my uncle and made plans for my first multi-camera shoot. I had no formal training in wedding videography, but I knew that 3 cameras were better than 1! I also knew that camera angles were important, so I asked my Dad to help me hang my uncle’s camera from a vantage point where I could get a great shot of the bride and groom at the altar. I edited that first video to include full coverage of the ceremony and the reception, and I made a music video of the couple’s song as a highlight of their special day. I was with them when they watched it, and the tears of joy they cried when they watched the video have helped fuel the last decade of my life.

After producing several more wedding videos as a high school student in 1997 and 1998, I enrolled as a student at Emory & Henry College. While at E&H, I spent my summers working as a news videographer for TV stations in Roanoke and Bristol, and as a freelance wedding videographer. After college, I borrowed equipment from friends so that I could continue following my wedding videography passions. In 2005 I purchased my own equipment and started Carrie Cannaday Productions. In 2007 I founded Starscape Media. At Starscape Media we produce a lot of different types of videos: Corporate and commercial videos, television programs, web videos, just to name a few. Still, a large portion of our business is dedicated to wedding videography because I find that I just can’t get away from it!

Friends and family, gathering because of the love that they share with each other, and the love shared between the bride and groom. Weddings are happy, joyous occasions. They are celebrations of a commitment to love for life. The average person—should they live to be 75—will experience 27,375 days on this earth. But is there a day that any long to remember more than their wedding day?

The way I look at it, it’s my job to help couples remember one of the happiest days of their lives. It’s a job built around love. And it’s a job that I love!

It’s an exciting time for wedding videography at Starscape Media! The wedding video industry has changed A LOT over the past five years. Gone are the days when wedding videos consisted of a one-camera view of the wedding ceremony from the church balcony. Here are the days where wedding videos are as well-edited and entertaining to watch as your favorite reality TV show. Only this time, you’re the star!

At Starscape Media we plan to stay in tune with today’s wedding video trends, while staying true to what has ever made any wedding video great: capturing the moments that you want to remember forever and presenting those memories in a way that will make you want to watch (and share) your wedding video with others for years to come.
